چکیده

Context. Cassiopeia A is one of the most extensively studied supernova remnants (SNRs) in our Galaxy. The analysis its continuum spectrum through low-frequency observations plays an important role for understanding evolution radio source and propagation synchrotron emission to observers SNR environment ionized interstellar medium. Aims. In this paper we present measurements integrated Cas characterize properties free–free absorption toward SNR. We also add new track slowly evolving decreasing flux density. Methods. used Giant Ukrainian Radio Telescope (GURT) measure within frequency range 16–72 MHz. density relative reference galaxy Cygnus was measured May–October 2019 with two subarrays GURT, as a two-element correlation interferometer. Results. determine magnitudes measure, electron temperature, average number charges ions both internal external absorbing gas A. Generally, their values are comparable, albeit slight differences, recently presented values. absence clumping, find that unshocked ejecta M = 2.61 ⊙ at 15.3 cm −3 has temperature T ≈ 100 K. If clumping factor 0.67, then 0.96 18.7 . Conclusions. obtained GURT interferometric consistent theoretical model measurement errors reasonably other recent results literature.

Interferometric Observations of Redshifted Molecular Absorption toward Gravitational Lenses

We have made radioand millimeter-wavelength interferometric observations of a variety of molecular absorption lines toward the gravitational lens systems B0218+357 and PKS 1830−211. The absorption occurs in the lensing galaxies at redshifts of 0.685 and 0.89, respectively. The high spatial resolution of our VLA and VLBA observations allows imaging of the background continuum emission and the ab...

Evidence for Thermal Absorption inside Cassiopeia A

Subarcminute resolution images of Cas A at 74 and 333 MHz are presented. Comparison with each other and with higher frequency observations indicates that the spectral index of its nonthermal emission flattens below 333 MHz and that the effect is confined toward the central 19 of the source and is maximum at its center. The source of the flattening is unknown, although we show that the data are ...

Ionospheric Calibration of Low Frequency Radio Interferometric Observations using the Peeling Scheme

Calibration of radio interferometric observations becomes increasingly difficult towards lower frequencies. Below ∼ 300 MHz, spatially variant refractions and propagation delays of radio waves traveling through the ionosphere cause phase rotations that can vary significantly with time, viewing direction and antenna location. In this article we present a description and first results of SPAM (So...

CGRO / OSSE observations of the Cassiopeia A SNRL

We present all OSSE observations to date of the Cas A supernova remnant. The objectives are to detect the 44 Ti lines, one of which has been reportedly detected by COMPTEL, and the hard X-ray continuum above 40 keV, as indicated by HEAO-A2 measurements. Our best t ux in each of three 44 Ti lines is (+1.76 Ti mass of 10 ?4 M is compatible with explosive nucle-osynthesis calculations. OSSE detect...

Interferometric tunability of the absorption

When an object is illuminated, it will absorb radiation proportionally to its absorption coefficient: Darker portions of the object will absorb more light than more transparent ones. Is there a way around this? In this paper we analyze a setup which uses classical light sources (i.e. coherent beams) and permits to easily tune the quantity of a light absorbed by an object independently on its tr...
